First Impressions Mean Everything
Before buyers even set foot in your home, you’ll need to impress them with the amazing curb appeal of your property. Bust out that rake, clear up as many of those brown patches of grass as possible and make sure your gutters are clear and free of debris. If you don’t have a pressure washer to hose down your vinyl siding, driveway and walkways, several home improvement stores will rent you one—and trust us—the investment is well worth the money!
It’s Fine To Decorate, But Don’t “Over Decorate”
Placing too many fall decorations around your house can distract potential buyers from the real selling points of the home. Maybe a few fall flower arrangements, perhaps a friendly scarecrow or even a bowl of seasonal fruit, but keep in mind, less is definitely more in this situation.
Neutral Colors Are The Way To Go
This particular tip is hugely beneficial regardless of the time of your home is listed. Just because you “Shy Cherry” or “Plum Paradise” (those are paint colors, btw!), in your living room doesn’t mean it’s everybody’s cup of tea. Remember, you’re trying to sell your home and you want prospective buyers to be able to imagine themselves living there. Neutral colors are always preferable to darks, pastels and loud colors.
The Nose Knows
When your buyers arrive for a walk through it’s a good idea to ensure they receive a familiar, seasonal scent. Pumpkin, Apple Pie and Cinnamon are all pleasant fragrances that coincide with the season. Scented candles featuring autumn flavors are very inexpensive and will give your house that cozy feel.
Come On Baby Light My Fire
If you have a fireplace in your home, show it off! Whether it’s a natural gas, propane or good old fashioned wood burning fireplace, buyers will appreciate the warmth provided and won’t be able to help but imagine picturing themselves cuddling up by the fire.
