Shaped like a miniature Maryland, and located in the central part of the state, Washington County is the gateway to western Maryland. Located only 70 miles from both Baltimore and Washington DC; Washington County is always a place to find houses for sale, farms or beautiful pieces of land.
The county seat is Hagerstown, a lovely city with tremendous architecture, restaurants, shopping and of course the award-winning City Park. Currently in the works is a walking trail that traverses the city from downtown to the City Park. Photo of park here would be nice.
With quick access either north/south via I-81 and east/west via I-70, Washington county is a wonderful place to raise a family, move your business or visit for the many historic points of interest. Some really popular destinations are the Antietam National Battlefield, historic Fort Frederick State Park, Greenbriar Lake State Park, The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, The Washington Monument and of course the internationally acclaimed Appalachian Trail runs through the county. Equally impressive is the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park. You can hike to Black Rock or High Rock for impressive views of the valley or visit some of the many historic boroughs like Boonsboro, Smithsburg, Williamsport and more.
Educational facilities include The University System of Maryland Hagerstown Campus, Hagerstown Community College, Kaplan University Campus and a broad system of public and private schools.
